The Bottom Line: I must recommend the KAC-649S because it sounds great, it is reliable, and well designed. On top of all these, it is very reasonably priced.

| channer's Full Review: Kenwood KAC-9S Car Amp |
When I purchased a 95 4Runner last summer, the first thing I wanted to do was replace the factory sound system. No offense to Toyota, but the existing system didn't cut it.
I already owned a nice Kenwood head unit, 2 12" Polk subs, an Xtant sub amp, and a pair of Boston Acoustic 4" two-ways. I wanted to add component speakers up front, and decided that they would need more power than the head unit would supply, since it would now be driving 4 tweeters, and 4 midranges essentially.
I did a good bit of research, and decided on the KAC-649S for a couple of reasons. First, I have always had good results with Kenwood products. I also liked the fact that the amp is small and easy to hide, since I have had someone break into my car twice before. The price was the final selling point.
The amp was very easy to install, and unlike the description states, it actually does have speaker level inputs. I chose to use the dual RCA inputs, so I can control fade, and the output came in handy to send my sub amp a signal.
I have been using the amp for about 7 months now, and I am very pleased. The sound quality is excellent. I can't hear any distortion, even at maximum volume. The amp doesn't really run hot, and I even ran it for about 18 hours continuously while driving across the country. It isn't extremely powerful, but since it is pushing lower wattage speakers it is more than adequate.
Some of the key features:
2,3,or 4 channel operation. RCA cable grounding. Max. power output (bridged) 320 watts. Quiet turn-on (no thump from the speakers). Gold plated connectors, and screw downs. Fused. 2 Ohm stable.
I can honestly say that I don't have any complaints with this product. It has never failed, and it will probably run long after my car stops.
