| 2001's Full Review: Pioneer DV-38A DVD Player |
The new Pioneer Elite DV-38A DVD-Audio/Video Machine is a first class performer. I have researched extensively into the DVD-Audio Arena & this deck is really the first one you can also use as a stand-alone CD player. The dynamic sonics it unleashes are stunning. The picture it extracts from DVD movies are pristine with a plethora of picture options in it's setup menu. Mate the DV-38a with a great monitor & home theater sound system & you will be thrilled with the results. Be sure to use the "Expert" Menu option during initial setup to access all the features such as "cd direct". The drawer loading & table of contents on DVD's is done quickly as is track access. It's DVD-audio capability is what really seperates it from standard DVD fare. DVD-A titles are slowly appearing & must be played back on a DVD-A player for optimum results. This high resolution format has great sonic benefits with a choice of 6,2,or 5.1 options for maximum effect. Standard dvd players can't access the high res.options or the bonus video DVD-A footage. The DV-38A does all of this & more. Highly recommended!
