Pros: Good sound, Panasonic name, wireless remote
Cons: Case is not as attractive as some
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this player as a good CD player for general use and an excellent choice for making your own mini-system as described above

| giddyupvj's Full Review: Panasonic SL-SX282C Personal CD Player |
I love music of all types and wanted to be able to enjoy it in the room that nobody ever uses - I wanted to have a stereo system in my formal living room. But I did not want speakers and a system sitting out in the room. When I saw this player with a wireless remote, I had a great idea.
I bought the Panasonic SX282C and also bought a set of Altec Lansing ATP3 2.1 (Computer) Speakers. I put the CD player on a side table with one of the speakers (which are about 10 inches tall and only 2 inches wide above the base) then ran the wire to the other side of the room for the other speaker so I have perfect separation. The subwoofer is hidden in a decorative trunk style basket (with sufficient padding to keep it from vibrating from the deep bass).
What makes this work so well is that little wireless remote! I can sit on my sofa and increase or decrease the volume, skip to the next song, pause etc etc etc. And the sound is phenomenal! Granted, it is the speakers that generate the sound but, when I show off my "discreet" system to my guests, I usually make them sit in the center of the sofa and ask them to close their eyes, then I crank up the volume. When they open their eyes, they are searching the room for the source and are shocked when I point to that little Panasonic on the table. In fact, I may buy another one just to have as a spare because I have not seen another wireless remote out there and I will really be lost if this one ever decides to stop working.
If anyone out there has the same problem of wanting a nice stereo but not wanting to ruin the room with huge speakers or a big bulky receiver, etc. consider this system. You won't be disappointed!. And the total cost (with rebates on the speakers and CD player)? $80!
