fantail's Full Review: Kodak Gold Max 200 135-24 (4 Pack), 200 ASA (15738...
As an avid photographer, from developing my own black and white photos to now taking photos of on the go kids I have tried lots of different film for my Minolta Camera.
I now mainly use Kodak Gold 200 as I like the colors and clear definition I get in my photos under a wide range of lighting conditions, especially with electronic flash. This is probably my 'winter film' as lighting conditions are generally lower.
What is Kodak Gold 200 Film?
No two color films are alike. Different dye forming chemicals are used by different manufacturers so although the pictures will look satisfactory, the same subject taken by different films will vary in color and contrast when compared together.
I think that Kodak Gold 200 gives a truer color match, a 'warmer' tone to my photos, which are mainly of people, (active little people).
Why ASA 200?
This film is for general purpose photography, giving great results. The speed (ASA 200) is for moderate action and some existing-light situations. Great for shots of children who don't like to sit still or if you are wanting to take some moderate 'action' shots of them at play.
The film has a wide exposure latitude which makes them excellent general-purpose films that work equally well in SLR cameras and simple 35 mm cameras that lack exposure controls.
I use it in both my SLR and automatic Minolta cameras.
Before loading the camera with film, take time to think what sort of photos you will be taking. If it is for high clarity, still scenic shots then ASA100 film which gives a higher clarity may be better. I found, that as I never know quite what my next photo will be of Kodak Gold 200 is a good all rounder film.
ASA:- This is the speed rating for photographic materials devised by the American Standards Association.
