Pros: clean sound, wide bandwidth, great separation, speaker binding posts, subwoofer level adjustment
Cons: No line level center channel output, too many 2-channel modes
The Bottom Line: Outstanding performance, great bang for the buck. You won't be disappointed.

| bkral's Full Review: Sony STR-DE475 5.1 Channels Receiver |
Bottom line: the only way to top the Sony is with a 6-channel receiver. In my case, I have run out of speakers and room. The receiver's few faults can be overcome. I made the center channel speaker output into a line level output by adding a 4700 Ohm resistor. I have read about complaints about the video inputs; I prefer to connect the video outputs of my components directly to my widescreen monitor. The fewer cables and connections, the less chance of video noise and signal loss.
Design execution is stellar. A good indication of the quality of the design is it can deliver full power to 4 ohm loads. Many other receivers cannot handle 4 ohm loads, and you won't know about that until you get them home.
I looked at many other receivers, and was about to settle on a Yamaha, when I did a reality check. Do I really need component video connections on my receiver? Do I really need 6 channel sound? Do I really want to spend double the price? No, no, and no, thank you.
