Do yourself a favor and pick up this camera. I purchased this camcorder so I could take crisp, clear digital movies, and boy was I satisfied with the results. You have the option of transferring the video data to your computer by analog, or an IEEE 1394 (FireWire) connection. The IEEE is particularly nice because of the quality upgrade and the fact that you can control the camera from your computer. This camera comes packed with a plethora of special effects and filters that can jazz your movie up to the moon and back. There are effects such as black and white, negative, sepia, old movie. Old movie is a particular favorite of mine because it films the movie in 16:9 sepia and reduces the shutter speed to make a very neat, western-style effect.
A drawback of this camera is it's digital-photo taking feature. It produces a grainy, average looking image that is saved on the included MemoryStick. Although, if you're in this for the digital pictures, you should be springing for a digital camera (Such as the Canon Power Shot A20, another personal favorite of mine).
