User Rating: Very Good
Pros:Quintuplets are an appealing theme for kids, can purchase accessories
The Bottom Line: You can have five babies without going through childbirth or dirty diapers. No avoiding the diaper rash, though.
Where are their parents, Mommy? Whose gonna take care of all these babies?

Thats one of the first questions my daughter asked me when she opened her first of many 5-Sies play sets (the 5-Sies Changing Table). Since that time, I think she has realized that SHE is the one who gets to take care of these quintuplets
and nothing pleases her more.
Though my daughter was delighted with the 5-Sies Changing Table , she did get discouraged by semi-permanent diaper rash on the five babies. A few times she asked me if we could get the other babies (the original 5-Sies set). I was waiting for a 50% off sale to buy them but finally gave in and purchased the 5-Sies Doll Pack for the full price of $9.99. So what did we (I mean, she) get for our (I mean, my) ten dollars?
5-Sies Doll Pack
This doll set consists of five baby dolls (quintuplets) three girls and two boys. They measure 2 3/4 inches in length and their heads are almost half of that length. They are articulated at the shoulder and hip joints so you can raise and lower their arms or move their legs into a sitting position. They cannot be made to stand because, well, the weight of their head would just topple them over! Besides that, some of them have legs that are slightly bent, just as a real baby would tend to hold their legs.
Though the baby dolls are all the same size, they each have distinctly different hair styles/colors so you can tell them a part (thank goodness!). One boy has very smooth, short blonde hair and the other boy has reddish-brown short hair with more texture. Girl #1 has medium length blonde hair, parted at the side with a purple ribbon. Girl #2 has medium length brown hair with two pink barrettes. Finally, Girl #3 has brown hair with two high pigtails. Before you start making plans to restyle their hair, be aware that the hair is molded plastic rather than anything modifiable.
Another way to tell the quints apart is by their clothing color. One boy has green overalls, the other has blue overalls, and the three girls all have dresses pink, green, and yellow. Each baby also has their own color-coded accessories that include a baby bottle, fish-shaped teething toy, hairbrush, and a pair of worthless socks that fall off their feet instantly (sort of like what happened whenever I put socks on my babies).
Finally, these 5-sies come with one other distinctive feature red bottoms! Yes, Im sorry to say that these dolls are exactly like the ones that come with the changing table diaper rash and all. Actually, my daughter informed me that the new baby girls only have a little diaper rash but the boy babies are really red. I dont remember reading anything on the packaging that said that these dolls also came with the red fannies. Fortunately, my daughter is more amused by this hidden surprise than irritated. I think shes given up on trying to cure the diaper rash (which goes away when the babys butt is warmed up with warm water or the heater). Every once and awhile she throws the whole lot of them (now 10 when you combine both sets) into the bathtub when shes taking a bath. At least for that brief time, their rear ends are regular flesh tone. The rest of the time theyre rosy red.
Although the 5-Sies concept appeals to little girls (and strikes terror in the hearts of adults), I would not have purchased this particular set of dolls had I known that they were identical to the set that came with the changing table. However, if you dont have the changing table/doll set, then it might be worth your money to buy this set for a child who is really into babies. My 7-year-old daughter reassured me that she likes these baby dolls and shes thrilled to have five sets of twins now! She does play with them almost everyday which is a testament to their popularity. Of course, it helps that we have some of the 5-sies accessories to go with them. You can purchase a two-story dollhouse, a set of five cribs, a set of five strollers, a changing table, and a merry-go-round to go with them, all of which are also color-coded to go with each baby. However, nowhere in the accessory options is a parent or even a baby-sitter. Its just five babies with red bottoms running loose in toy land. What more could a little girl want?
