Beware Repair!

Pros: Combo means less equipment, fewer cables/remotes. Good picture.
Cons: Repair costs as much as a brand new machine!
The Bottom Line: It was fine while it worked, but consider it disposable.

Despite the fact that the remote never made sense to me, my unit worked fine for a year and a half then suddenly the VCR played only in B&W. Contacted GoVideo via email and they said to use a head cleaner (didn't help).
Local repair shop said it would be $50 to diagnose it and then they probably wouldn't be able to get parts. Website doesn't list authorized repair centers so I called and they said to go to Radio Shack. When I brought it in, I was told repair would be $129 - just about the cost of a brand new new machine now!
My son is using a Sony TV that's as old as he is (25 yrs). I really object to a piece of equipment that doesn't even last 2 yrs and costs as much to repair as it does for a new one.
Don't think I'll get another GoVideo - they're not reliable.
