Pros: Space saving, reduces number of individual components.
Cons: Poor quality, poor warranty, servicing unit extremely difficult.
The Bottom Line: Spend a few more dollars and buy a name brand !!!

I bought a DVR4000 to save on space and component hookups; it worked properly for 3 months then the tape unit stopped working. The warranty is parts/labor for 3 months, then parts only for the balance of one year. HOWEVER you are responsible for all shipping costs, etc. The service centers are few and far ranging, so you can count on shipping costs. Also the service department claims Radio Shack services this item, but I called 4 Radio Shacks and was refused each time. Also, despite the fact that the model was date of manufacture on the back, save your receipt !! No service center will honor warranty without a proof of purchase !! In retrospect I could have bought a name brand DVD and VCR separately and enjoyed the backing of it's products by a REAL company, not a front-man.
