Pros: Light, small, long battery life
Cons: Skips, disc errors, fairly quiet
The Bottom Line: The cutting-edge size may appeal to those who upgrade regularly anyway, but my old MZ-R55 has outlived it even though it looks like it's been dragged through Gulf War II.

| ajeff's Full Review: Sony Walkman MZ-E900 Personal MiniDisc Player |
I bought this because of it's fantastic size and battery life. It excelled in both areas, and now 2.5 years later on with the original battery I still only charge it every 2 weeks, and use it every working day. It still looks as new as the day I bought it due to the magnesium casing.
MDLP is brilliant, I can put 4 CD's on a disc and it still sounds great.
The first bad thing I noticed that whilst sound levels with in-ear plugs were good, when I moved to headphones (Sony streetstyle, Koss) I always use it with the volume at absolute maximum and often still want more.
After about 12 months I started getting random disc errors and "freezing", which got progressively worse. After 2.5 years the unit need to be replaced completely as the player will stop half way through a disc due to having reading problems. It's been cleaned thoroughly, and a lens cleaning disc used.
