Pros: Convenient controls, excellent compatibility (CD, CD-R, CD-RW), correct reproduction of files with various bitrates
Cons: Rather average quality of sounding, absence of the remote control, WMA is not supported
The Bottom Line: Better than many others, but no so good. Main defect is average quality of sound. Everything else is very nice.

| 200067's Full Review: Aiwa XP-MP3 Personal CD Player |
Aiwa XP-MP3 is one from advanced brandname CD/MP3-players. It is equipped with the graphics display, reads CD-R and CD-RW disks, plus has buffer memory for 10 seconds.
First, that I marked, it have modern design. The disposition of buttons of a player reminds inexpensive musical centers. But the body of player is far from compact, especially in a thickness. The common impression spoils only analog regulator of loudness (wheel). The buttons of main operations entered by the designers in an ellipse are executed very qualitatively. The buttons for scrolling of files and directories considerably facilitate navigation on the disk, and with the help of special button it is possible to switch an information, mapped in a running line (time counter, contents of tag, title of the current directory and file).
Generally player is too heavy, but, as is spoken, reliable - nothing is shaked, covers "seated" densely, the keys have not a large gap. When stationary use the rubber supports on the lower board reliably will keep player practically on any surface.
Usually when you insert a new CD with MP3 files, players is rather long (about one minute, and more) scan the disk for searching of files of compatible formats. In Aiwa XP-MP3 the mode of fast start is stipulated, in which the titles of directories are read out only. Rather useful and convenient there was a mode "Resume". When you activate this mode, reproduction of the disk begins from that place, where it was interrupted before the last power off (certainly, if that disk and the batteries were not taken out). By a word, controls and navigation have not called any reproof.
But the power consumption of player was noticeably above, than at many its competitors. Consoles only that when you connect power supply unit it is possible to charge accumulators, not taking out them from a battery compartment of player.
The quality of a sound tract Aiwa XP-MP3, despite of its elite origin, was average. Strangely enough, when playing AudioCD player sounded rather mediocrely: weak dynamics, and also defect of a transparency and clearness was marked. The amplifier of player has an insufficient reserve of a power for work with the high-resistance headphones.
When you work with the headphones the lower zone AFC not bad is "tightened" by the two-stage mode of amplification (DSL). The truth, the second "stage" of a mode DSL too radically changes sounding, and it is felt even in the small headphones. If to use this system, it is quite enough to stay on first "stage" DSL.
The situation with reproduction MP3 definitely is better. Decoder ÌÐ3 deserves a good opinion. However even on highest bitrates are audible, though poorly are expressed, characteristic artifacts of compression. Dynamics, as well as for AudioCD, has appeared not so good.
