Pros: This tiny unit has perfect sound and great software.
Cons: 32 Megs of on board memory is a bit small.
The Bottom Line: The player is everything you want to listen on the road, no bulk, no weight, no impossible to learn features. Just good music on the go.

The first time I saw this unit I was surprised how small it is. The first time I heard it I was truly amazed at the sound. Now I am old school, so my favorite Beach Boys tracks were loaded first. Barbara Ann never sounded so clear in a portable product. The buttons were easy to use and had a good stiff feel to them. I like the "hold" switch that prevented any operation when activated. I am usually not thrilled with the ear bud type headphones, but the Toshiba supplied ones sound terrific and are very well made.
The Software loaded quickly and was so easy to use. Just drag and drop to put songs into the player. Same to pull them out. The software uses a variety of formats, but transcodes them into the "Secure Digital" format used by these products. The three copy rule seems a bit restrictive to me, especially since I get my music from CD's I have purchased. Those who want to go beyond "fair use" should get another player.
The external memory seems expensive comparing it to PC memory. 128 meg sells for over $100.00 in a SD package, while the same PC memory goes for about $ 10.00.
I wish there was a longer battery life. Any serious user will get a NiMh battery and charger. I would also like to see an integrated radio.
This unit is a real winner because of its tiny size and very light weight. The sound is beyond expectations in a portable product.
