Pros: Mega-Bass feature works when playing the radio 'or' the cassette player.
Cons: Obsolete cassette player in a CD/Mini-disc day and age.
The Bottom Line: Buy a CD/Mini Disk or MP3 player(other then Sony). Cassettes are obsolete. Why would you want to buy a cassette player with what's out there today?

The most important thing to remember is if you are seriously considering "this" Sony cassette Walkman for purchase, "Do Not Buy It"! No matter how cheap a price you may find it for. It's features and functions are so out dated it's atrocious! One of the biggest problems you will encounter is the tape player will fail to preform, sooner or later. I bought mine brand new. In about 11 months of normal use it quit working. I sent it to Sony to be fixed. In another 4 months, it did it again. It was past the point in time where I could resend it back to Sony to have it repaired without cost to me. Sony told me I would have to pay for it this time. As the other reviewer stated, it will come on by itself just by normal touch of anything it may come in contact with. The "Hold" button will only slow the process of draining your batteries. Another problem is the nylon strap it comes with. It's held in by a watch band size pin. It will pull out after a short time of 'normal use'. It's anchored into the radio by a plastic hole in the back of the case. This will also break and chip off due to 'normal' stress put on the strap from carrying it in your hand. I use mine to jog with. It is very heavy and bulky to carry in your hand. The head phones are not as they have pictured here. The ones that came with mine are "very uncomfortable". They come with these removable "fins" on the head band that I guess are supposed to hug your ears. All they do is cut off the circulation. Even if you remove the fins you still have severe discomfort in a short time of wear. Another problem is the input jack for the head phones is defective. If the head phone plug is moved, it will cut off the sound and only give you sound in one or the other head phone speakers while giving you severe static. It's reception for the FM/AM/Weather/TV is lousy. It will "come and go" as you move with the unit in your hand. The Mega-Bass will work with the cassette player or the radio function but it has only one setting. On or off. The function buttons are so tiny to use. While you are in motion, You have to stop and see exactly what you are doing to operate it. I made a mistake buying this Sony Cassette Walkman. I suggest shopping around for anything but this one. In today's day and age when even CD's are becoming 'Obsolete', why would you need a new portable "Cassette" player for anyway? As I stated, buying this one would be a real waste of money. With all of the choices that are out there, consider maybe another brand and a CD or mini-disc player other then Sony. Good luck!
