Cons: The badly placed "on" button is activated by any pressure, so it eats through batteries.
The Bottom Line: This poorly designed unit is so easily activated that it can't be carried "on the go" unless you like replacing expensive batteries between each use.
toling1's Full Review: Sony Walkman WM-FS421 Personal Cassette Player
I am an avid walker, and my SONY WM-FS421 is the latest in a long, long series of SONY Sports Walkmans that I've used and abused. I like this one the least by a wide margin. The enormous "on" button is located right on the face of the unit, where it can be activated by any pressure. As a result, it is impossible to store this unit in a pocket or a backpack without coming back to find that it's been on for hours or days and that the batteries are out...again. (There is a "hold" button that will keep it in the off position, but that actually uses a significant level of battery power too. Thanks, SONY!) The whole point of purchasing a sports Walkman is being able to take it anywhere, but this unit is only practical if you are willing to place it carefully and reverentially on a shelf between each use. I can't wait until this one breaks.
