One of the wishes of all my life was to have a clear cut recording of the songs I wanted to hear and not what was on the entire Album. With the advent of CD technologies in cars and now this Sony Digital CD Recorder, my dreams have been fulfilled. I am now able to copy the tunes I want from the albums I have and play them back with CD quality as good as the original.
Learning how to use the unit was a bit of challenge. The instructions were not very clear. Also, don't bother looking for definitions of certain words in the instructions either. It took me forever to understand what TOC (Table of Contents)was, it was listed everywhere in the manual but never explained. Some experienced electronic users would have no problem with this but to me, the average electronics user, I found this frustrating.
Once I got over learning how to use the unit, it has now become fairly automatic. So there is hope. My wife, who is not into electronics at all, loves the unit. She does quite a bit of driving (Kids to school, errands, etc.) and she rarely listens to radio anymore. She has taken all her albums and has created her own mixes with them, again, once I showed her how to use the unit.
Recording from external sources is also easy. The front display gives good details as to how many minutes you have left for analog recordings. So taking my old cassette tape collection and recording them on CD was a snap!
The unit is also well built and robust. It has gotten quite a number of hours of use from us as a standard CD player and a CD recorder. With proper maintenance, we plan on having this unit for a long time to come.
