Pros: not too expensive, plenty of oomph
Cons: well.....you might have to "tweak it"
The Bottom Line: This sub sounds good for the money and moves a lot of air but you might have to break out the screwdriver and foam tape.

| yoyodyne's Full Review: Pioneer S-DW1-K Subwoofer Speaker |
Got the Pioneer s-dw1-k at a local home theater shop because of Pioneers reputation. It worked great in my apartment where I never had it more than half-way up. It performs well all the way down to around 30 hertz, the sound is reasonably well defined and it really shakes the room.
After recently moving into a larger space I got the chance to crank it up and here is where I discovered the problem. As you probably know when the sub is really working- things in your house start to rattle and vibrate. As I was going around identifying particular problem spots (china cabinet, picture frame) I noticed that during certain sounds -the sub itself was buzzing. I put my hand on the back plate that holds all the subs guts, pushed a little, and the sound stopped.
I tightened down all the screws on this plate and it helped a bit, but I was still getting some buzz. My next step was to take the plate off and put some of that thick foam double sided tape between it and the sub. I figured this would help pad it from all the vibration from the wood cabinet. Screwed it back on and so far it works great, and no noticeable change in sound quality.
I emailed Pioneer about my problem and they did reply quickly, but they just sent me to their pre-recorded faq phone service thing. No help.
I guess I'm writing this so if someone else has the same problem they might try this fix. Also if anyone is thinking of buying one check the plate on the back for a buzz or rattle at high volumes.
