Is it really that great?

Pros: maybe it's my end (none yet)

Cons: maybe it's my end (no "great sound" nor "great bass"?)

The Bottom Line: I haven't found it great yet, I will update review when found out.

I read I read reviews here on these Alpine speakers (especially Alpine SPR-172B) and loved them since they said it's "great sound quality" and "great bass" even without an amp or sub, therefore I bought the Alpine SPR-172B; however, somehow I did not get the "great sound quality" nor "great bass" as many reviews described. These are $120 speakers and they don't even sound as good as my 15W factory speakers (Corolla '96). It sounded like a pair of cheap 10-dollar speakers with no bass whatsoever. What could I have possibly done wrong? I really want good sound quality that's why I didn't go cheap on these speakers. I have a JVC KD-XS980 HU and I don't have an amp nor sub. Please let me know your expert advice ASAP. I really appreciate it. Thanks.
