| weather_man16's Full Review: MTX Thunder 6500D Car Amp |
This amplifier is one of the best amplifiers made. It has a power rating of 500 watts rms at 2 ohms with one class d channel,it is also has a newly designed compression circuit which prevents against clipping, clipping can blow a sub, so this circuit is great. This is a must for high power subwoofers. I bought mine about three weeks ago, for my kicker comp tens and it pushes them just fine half way up. Mtx pretest everyone of their amplifiers before they are even shipped. Mine had an actual test rating of 678 watts rms at two ohms which is 178 watts more than they put on the box. This amp blows rockford amps away my friend has a rockford punch 500.2 amplifier that doesn't even get close to my mtx thunder 6500d. The retail price it $550.00 which it is well worth if you are in to high quality sound like me. I got mine with connections at a local stereo shop for $350.00. A must for this amplifier or any amplifier over 500 watts is a capacitor that can hold 1 farad of energy. I recommend cbrstereo.com for the best price on them. The amp can push out 775 watts with 14.4 volts [which is obtained with a capacitor] the actual power is probably more like 1000+ watts. overall this is a great amp that rivals that of a competition amplifer.
