Pros: class D
Cons: screw terminals adverage sq 2 ohm stable
Its no secret that MTX has the worst coustomer service in the industry, i was a former MTX competitor. Thats reason enough not to buy this product. But aside from that the 8100D is a very old amp, they have been making it in one form or another since 1999, hence MTX 1000D, same thing. It has 2 ohm stability , so they say. This amp has only one thing going for it, it can push the crap out of subs if you get a 2 ohm load on it and if it dosent fail, alot of them do. MTX dosent make the 8100D anymore for the year 2003 due to realibility issues and age. Overall this amp has power and efficiency but lacks realibility and 1 ohm stability, MTX will hang thereselfs eventualy through there bad coustomer service. But you can get a 1 ohm stable Visonik or MA Audio class X monoblock which is 90 percent efficient for a mere discount price of 350.00 on ebay if you look around some. The best digital amp out there is the Visonik 900XD/ MA Audio 900XD, they will take 17 volts and put out over 1800 watts true @ 1 ohm. I now run a visonik/Audiobahn setup and I can say one thing those guys stand behind their product unlike MTX. Dont be stupid like I once was and invest in a company that gets circuit city to sell its crap.
