Pros: Inexpensive, easy to use
Cons: No night vision, no analog video input, no built-in light, battery is weak
The Bottom Line: Buy a better camcorder and extended warranty from a brick and mortar store where you can take it back and scream out loud your dissatisfaction.

| verolom's Full Review: Panasonic PV-DV51 Mini DV Camcorder |
This camera seemed like a good deal to me only to discover that after about my first 15 minutes of recording it stopped and started chewing up the tape. I changed the tape only to chew up the new one. I sent it to Panasonic Services who wanted to charge me $280 to fix it. After explaining that the camera is less than a month old they "repaired" it and sent it back. A "Mechanical Adjustment" was what they allegedly have done and after another 15 minutes of recording it started chewing the tape again. I tried three different tapes from two manufacturers with the same result. Now the 90 day warranty is over and I'll have to pay to get it fixed. If it gets fixed...
It has a good variable-speed zoom control, fairly fast auto-focus, a horrible B&W viewfinder and a small 2.5" color LCD screen with very low resolution. I would tell you about the recording quality except that I haven't been able to see any recordings.
Mine broke but you might have a better luck with it.
