| jersey101's Full Review: Olympus Camedia D-360L Digital Camera |
Ok,,
I written already about this camera in Dec. of 2000. It still is a good camera and is still working well for being 2 years old. But, as we all know electronics have a short shelf life. Well, this camera is in the process of being discontinued. We are finding this out because we have checked on tons of websites for the driver that downloads the image from camera to PC. It's called Camedia 2.5 that comes with the camera. We've lost it and figured it would be no problem because I'm sure Olympus would put it on their website. WRONG! It's not on their site or any other site for that matter. I've been reading message boards for people in similar problems. We emailed Olympus asking why they don't put this driver on the site and they emailed us back and said because it is copyrighted material and we would have to buy another cd for $19.99+ s/h. I'm sorry, but that's just not right. This camera was over $200 when it initially came out and most normal companies would have drivers on the site. No one can use the software without the proper camera for one, and another, they should have some kind of note on the website stating why the driver isn't on the site. They have other camera drivers on the site for the newer cameras and I'm sure that's copyrighted. So, in summary, if you have the D-360 L camera don't lose the cd or expect to pay $19.99+shipping. That's just a way for Olympus to get more money out of the consumer coming out with that copyrighted material excuse. We pay for their products, so whatever they say, they need to put the driver on the net. Software companies do, so why shouldn't Olympus? I know I won't be paying for the disk when I can just get a copy from a friend and burn it for FREE. Just like it should be from them. For this reason, I wouldn't and won't buy another Olympus product. If I spend that much money to support the company buy purchasing their products, they better support the customers. Tit for tat.
