| mdb1's Full Review: Panasonic SC-PM11 CD Shelf System |
Folks, normally I would not consider Panasonic when considering buying a high quality stereo system. I was prepared to spend as much as $300 on a mini system for my study. A knowledgable salesman steered me away from the more expensive systems to this unit. The sound quality and clarity were terrific! The best unit on the floor by far. (I did not sample the super high end $500 and up stuff in a separate area of the store but I own such a unit for my master bedroom. This $149 unit compares well, lacking just a bit of the deep base found on my more expensive unit.) Even at high volumes, this unit doesn't wash out or "vibrate." It's not a fancy unit with lots of silly, gimmicky lights, and that's a good thing. Simple, clean and functional describes this unit. And, at $149, soon to be a cult classic, a unit for audiophiles who want an "extra" system for a smaller room but without the disappointment so often heard in inexpensive minisystems. (Finally, as to the noise with the CD changer that others have complained about, I will only say that a 5 CD changer in a unit about the same size as most true mini systems needs to do a lot of juggling, and that makes noise. Again, at $149, no problem!)
