You and I both know that digital cameras are all the rave, right? Well, my iMac can’t hook up to a digital camera because it is such a bad computer! So, my aunt gave us a computer that she didn’t need anymore since she got a different one. The new one that she gave us came with all the new software and could hook up to a digital camera. Unfortunately, that computer is in the shop right now because the mouse is too stupid to come up on the screen. So, we are in the middle of looking for a digital camera, but I decided to review my sexy Pantax IQZoomEZY-S film camera.
Package
The IQZoomEZY-S package comes with a camera! Yes, okay, but it also comes with a strap that you can connect on the camera. This strap allows you to easily hold the camera while not using it, and sometimes I like to use it when I’m bored and feel like swinging the camera in circles (is that healthy?).
The camera also comes with a complimentary Pentax case! This case is made of leather and has a velcro strap to make sure that the camera does not fall out. On the side of the case is an area to let the strap hang out so it is easier to hold the camera.
Body
I call my IQZoomEZY-S sexy because of its sexy looks (sound weird enough yet?). Unlike those bulky, large and heavy cameras, this one is small, light, and doesn’t take too much space. It is a shiny silver color, and looks kind of like a face. Yes, a face :-) The nose is the Zoom Lens (38mm-70mm extension outwards). The eye is the place where you put your eye when taking a picture and focusing, and there is a glass plate about it for extra-extra protection. The mouth is actually non-existent.
On the each side of the camera is a wavy design where an edger would usually be, but instead is redesigned in a unique wave.

One of my favorite features of this camera is the Red-Eye Reduction. This easily reduces the red-eye in photos. And who wants red-eye anyway when in an important photo such as a graduation or wedding? You can easily trigger this function by depressing the red-eye reduction flash button.
I also like the Self-Timer. This allows me to be able to take pictures without someone having to take a picture for us. Once when we were at Disney World, my wife and I were dining and didn’t want to ask someone to take the picture for us because we were afraid that they might steal it. Instead, we set the camera on the table at the restaurant we were eating and used the self-timer feature.
The Infinity-Landscape feature is very precise. It allows you to take pictures of objects that are far away, yet it gives you a sharp picture with a lot of detail. It also gives clarity and scenery. I used this feature for taking a picture on the side of a mountain, and I was trying to get a good picture of the city below. The picture came out with great detail!

Lens: Pentax power zoom 38/70mm f/4.8-8.5 five elements in five groups. Angle of view is 59” - 34”.
Battery
One Lithium battery CR123A or the equivalent is all you need to operate the camera. Approximately 15 rolls of film will be able to be used until a new battery is needed. This is when considering that half of the time, the flash feature is being used and the roll is 24-exposure.
Film
Auto film speed setting with 35mm perforated DX-coded film with ISO rating from 25-3200 (1 EV step). Non-DX coded cameras will actually be automatically set to ISO25. When it comes to buying film, I recommend Kodak...make it a ‘Kodak Moment!’
What Could Be Done Better
Geesh, I don’t think anything major could be done better! The photos seem to come out well...perhaps the designers should have thought out a better way to hold the camera while taking pictures. The part of the camera that allows you to see what you’re taking a picture of can easily be blocked by your own finger since the camera is so small, and that part is located right in the middle of the camera. Therefore, you really have to be careful when taking a photo - make sure that your finger or hand isn’t in the way!
My Thoughts
The Pentax IQZoomEZY-S is a very good camera. There are a lot of well-thought-out features such as the red-eye reduction and infinity landscape. The pictures come out well and you can assure that by choosing what mode the photo comes out in. I also like the looks...that’s why it’s so sexy! The combination of shining silver and a cool design make it very attractive (for a camera, folks!).
