Best for the buck, but why the 510 over the 509, 507, etc?

| sfinaki2000's Full Review: Kenwood VR-510 5.1 Channels Receiver |
I came into the world of stereo receivers without much knowledge. I did some research and picked up some vocabulary on the subject (go to www.crutchfield.com. They have a whole section on terminology). I looked at the Technics 1070, a Harman Kardon, Sony, etc, all the way down the line. I can honestly say that the Kenwood VR-510 is the best all around receiver for the price.
I won't go into detail on the receiver itself, cause you can easily read one of the other reviews or go to crutchfield to get that data, but I WILL say why I went with the VR-510 instead of the VR-509, 507, etc.
The main reason I went with the 510 over the others is its THX certification. It takes a lot for a receiver to be recognized by THX, and to find one at this price was definitely worth it. THX makes movie sounds sound clearer, crisper, sharper, and any other synonym you can find, which makes for a better movie experience. The 509 and 507 are not THX certified. To boot, the 510 has a few more connections (of which I don't really use), and 10 more watts per channel. For me, THX was the deciding factor, but if you want to save about 100 bucks, then go with the 509.
Oh, and don't forget, get some surround speakers. I picked a Harman Kardon HKTS5 surround sound setup for about $400. With a 10" subwoofer, the whole package sounds awesome.
