This is a very good surround sound receiver. Its remote works with the receiver, my vcr, dvd player, digital cable (does the guide and program info and everything), tv and my personal cd player (its a portable cd player with a remote that is broken.... no one for all remote has worked for that one!!!!!!!!). The receiver also has 5 inputs not four like they say. The 5th is a DVD/CD input. You can really only use it if you use your dvd player for your cd player and don't have another cd player since it uses the cd input but also has a video input. All of the video inputs have s-video. There are 2 optical and 2 digital coaxile inputs. The remote can control all of the things I have told you and even a DSS (and cable together!!!) E-mail if you have questions!!!! I highly recomend!!!
WAIT... also why just get a Dolby Digital/DTS receiver.... only dvds and sat use it.... get one with pro logic 2 (you can even use prologic through the digital audio inputs.... pro logic 2 and dolby digital/dts sound just the same.... there is a PL II Movie, PL II Music, and plain old pro logic from like 8 years ago or whatever....
I LOVE IT!!! also 4 of my speakers are at least 10 years old (2 are 18!!!) and they sound great... old doesn't mean bad
