Pros: Lots of inputs and pre-outs.
Cons: Lack of power. Now way this is 100 watts x 5. Not 6.1 Discrete.
The Bottom Line: This is a good STARTER unit, but that's it. It does not have enough power for music at decent levels.

| suntsu's Full Review: Pioneer VSX-D810S 6.1 Channels Receiver |
I have used an older Pioneer integrated amp for about 10 years which was rated at 100 watts per channel. This VSX-810S is also rated at 100 watts per channel. There is NO WAY this thing has that much power. On my old amp, I would have the volume at about 40% and the SPL would be close to painful. I have to turn the VX-810S to about -20 dB which is about 75% of total to get the same levels. Not a lot of headroom left with that. The 100 watts per channel rating is WAY over rated. If you like dynamic music like symphonies or opera, this receiver will NOT do. It is going back to the store this weekend. I got an AMAZING deal on this amp ($400 CAD) and it is still not worth it.
