Pros: Great features! Very Good Sound! Nice Price for Features!
Cons: Non user friendly remote, but can be learned with some effort.
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended for listeners who want very good sound, features, and ease of use that don't want to spend big bucks for the "so called" top of line receivers!!

| tallsilver's Full Review: Yamaha HTR-5460 5.1 Channels Receiver |
Was looking to upgrade a 2 yr old Sherwood and went on the net searching for features and recommendations. After comparing prices, availability, features, and customer recommendations I chose the Yamaha HTR 5460 over all the other brands! I considered Denon, Onyko, Sony, and JVC to name a few.
I wanted to find the most bang for around $400. The HTR 5460 had the most features that I wanted within this price range. It also had all the video and audio connections that I needed for my system.
Currently, I have DTV, DVD, TV, and VCR connected to the HTR 5460. I am using the optical audio for the DVD and the others are RCA jacks for audio. I use S-Video for DVD, DTV, and TV. All work fine and operate as advertised. The FM tuner is very sensitive, clean, strong, and is connected to an outdoor omni directional antenna via co-axial cable.
The HTR 5460 is pushing a pair of AR PS2260 main speakers, an AR PS25 center speaker, pair of AR PS215 surrounds, and a KEF 10" sub-woofer. Though this speaker setup is not very expensive, they give great sound and blend together beautifully! I could have spent much more money for speakers but I don't think it would have been worth it.
The HTR 5460 handles all this very well and the sound is clean, pleasing, and not too expensive!
