| march813's Full Review: Yamaha HTR-5460 5.1 Channels Receiver |
I am not B.S.-ing when I say this thing is a nice piece of equipment. If you are in the market for a mid-priced receiver, look no further than this model.
The reason I feel I am a good source of opinion is that I also have a nice Onkyo Receiver (and I used Yamaha Speakers with it) then for some reason, it started shorting out so I decided instead of paying hundreds to get it fixed, I figured I might as well get a Yamaha. One of my friends has had a nice Yamaha receiver for 3 years and the thing works and sounds great (not to mention it has millions of settings) so that helped me make my decision and so far I have been nothing but happy with it. I will say it annoys my roommates when I still play with the settings at the beginning of a movie to see what sounds the best.
The 5460 is great balance of features vs price. The settings I was talking about are DSPs (sound effects to make it sound like a concert hall or disco or whatever)
Sure, most receivers sound pretty similar but it doesn't heat up as much as the Onkyo, and the sound is just an overall better sound. (...No B.S. I promise)
The remote control is easy to use and I use it to run the other components (doesn't matter the brand) for my home theatre setup.
I would say if this doesn't convince you, send me an e-mail if you have any questions. I wish I would have seen this site before I spent hundreds$ on the Onkyo that doesn't work well.
Honestly, if you aren't going to get this one, look for another Yamaha model that suits your needs and you won't regret it.
