I suppose its a bit late in the game to write a review on this phone, but being that it sits across the room from me, I thought, 'Why not?' At the very least, I can keep some people from buying this phone.
Features: or lack thereof
900 MHz
headset jack
comes in white OR black
has all the numbers
Ok, ok. The point here is that the AT&T 9210 is a very standard, basic phone. Personally, I have it in my own room because I do not need an answering machine, speaker phone, or anything else that is fancy or fun. The features are obviously lacking. I would not recommend this phone for any other purpose than perhaps a bathroom phone, or another room that doesn't really need a phone.
General quality: Hey, I've had worse
In one of my earliest reviews, I spoke of the worst phone ever, which was a similar model made by GE. Despite the lack of gadgets and general boring nature of this telephone, the AT&T 9210 has been a consistant performer as our house's 6th telephone. (Yes, that is quite a few phones, but only two of them are the fun, new-age kind)
The durability will suffice for everyday use. Like I mentioned above, this phone is not for heavy office-style use or for use as the primary phone, but it will serve its purpose.
A few minor problems: Why it's so cheap
-sound-
-------
At times, this phone tends to get a little quiet on the receiving end. When I have mentioned this to people on the phone, they can always hear me clearly, but there are times when I have trouble with clarity from incoming calls.
-range-
-------
As is the case with any 900MHz telephone, one can't wander about aimlessly and hope that the phone will continue its clarity at a significant distance. However, the AT&T 9210 does seem to have a smaller range than most. I haven't broken out the old tape measure as of yet, but I imagine that if I ever did, the results would be somewhat disappointing.
Conclusions and Recommendations
As if you can't already tell, I am not a strong advocate of using this phone for any purposes other than secondary ones that require a small, durable, cheap phone. If you find this phone at a garage sale or on sale for under $20 or so, I would say that's a good deal. With all the newer 2.4GHz phones out there, this is hardly a long-term purchase.
Thanks for reading and have a great day.
