This is a landline cordless phone. So unlike cell phones, you have to have the phone relatively close to the base station since it does not work with cell towers. But since cell phone reception is poor at my home this is a plus. We rarely use the cell phone at home but instead use this phone system due to the poor reception that verizon is giving us. I have found this phone to be very reliable and feature loaded. I have not regrets about spending the money I did when I bought this phone.
What it comes with.
-Base unit
-Cordless phone
-AC adapter
-2 telephone wire cables
-Mounting adapter
-Belt clip
-Battery
Main features Speaker phone- For a phone it is a nice speaker. I have used this several times and I have had no problems (like other phones I have used.) The voice I hear is very clear and I am easily heard by the other party.
2 lines- If you have the need for two phone lines. When my wife worked from home this was a nice feature to have. We did not experience any problems with using both lines either.
Digital answering machine- It has a capacity of about 15 minutes of messages.
Individual welcome messages for each line- You can record 2 unique message, one for each line.
Remote control of answering machine- You can call the phone and listen to messages on the machine. This is a very cool feature that I have used a lot. It takes a bit of getting used to but once you memorize the numbers to hit, it is a very easy to use feature. There is a three digit code that you can set so some stranger cant call and listen to your messages.
Callers recording time can be set- You can set it to 1 minute, 3 minutes, or no message (just the greeting.)
Intercom- To talk using the handset and base unit, sort of like a walkie-talkie.
Call wait/flash Location finder- Just press this button and the cordless phone will start ringing. Now if the battery is dead then youre up a creek.
Wall mountable- It can be mounted on the wall with the provided adapter. Your other option is to place it on a desk.
Cordless phone port can swivel- The port can swivel so the base unit can hold the phone no matter what position it is in.
Caller id- So you know who is trying to call you. My phone company charges a fee for this service.
Auto talk feature- Once you take the cordless phone off the base unit, it automatically takes the call. You do not have to hit talk to start talking to the person on the line. This feature can be turned off if you wish.
Controllable ring volume- You can set the volume.
Settings not affected by power outages- All of your custom settings and messages are saved onto a chip. So if you have a power outage you will not lose your messages or settings. Nice for those wonderful rolling blackouts.
Date and time can be set Set # of rings- you can set it from 1 to 7
Toll saver- The answering machine will pick up at 2 rings if you have messages, 4 if you do not. This way you can hang up at the 3rd ring and not waste your minutes just to see if you have a message.
Backlit LCD- This is for the headset. The LCD screen is pretty nice but this makes it a whole lot easier to see, especially in low light situations.
Lighted handset keypad- Make it easier to see in low light situations.
50 slots for phones numbers- From caller ids and manually imputed information.
Conference calling- If you have someone on line one and another person on line two, you can create a conference call so all three of you can talk to each other at the same time.
Headphone jack- You can use a headset and clip the cordless phone to your belt. This frees up your hands for other tasks.
Range
I can use it all the way to the back fence of my yard. So it is about 50 yards. At that range I do have some static but it is still useable. I have not had a reception problem throughout the house.
Ergonomics and durability.
I really like how they designed the buttons and the arrangement. It is fairly intuitive and easy to use. The buttons are large enough even for larger hands. None of the buttons have gotten stuck or damaged. I have no complaints when it comes to durability; it is a well-made unit. I cant even begin to count how many times the handset has hit the floor.
Wall mounting
Wall mounting is fairly simple. Just Clip the accessory on the back of the phone, plug in the phone cord, and slide it down on the phone jack box. There are holes in the mounting accessory for the phone cables to go through.
Cleaning
Occasional dusting or wiping with a damp cloth is all you need.
Battery life
The talk time is around 4 hours. The standby time is stated at 11 days and I have found that to be accurate. I have had the phone away from the charger for a week and it still worked fine.
Summary
This is a phone designed to be used with the phone service that goes into your home. It is a 2.4 GHz phone so it does not work with cell towers. I have had this for several years and I have had no problems to speak of. It is well made and easy to use. Also it has all of the features the common man would need.
