Having bought my 12w3 second hand from a friend last August, I have come to the conclusion that I made a very wise decision. Currently my subwoofer is powered by an Alpine MRV-T757, which is factory (severely UNDER) rated at 750 watts on a single channel (bridged, of course). I have absolutely no complaints about the sub at all, aside from the fact that the tinsel leads have popped off on two seperate occasions, and both times were entirely my fault for giving the sub too heavy of a load. Both times the problem was easily rectified with a soldering iron and some rosen core solder.
One fantastic thing I've discovered about JL products is that they're all well supported on JL Audio's website. It only took me two mouse clicks to find all the information on my 12w3 after purchase, and organization like that is highly appreciated.
The bass response is excellent, and at times I have concerns about the well-being of items in my trunk. My 12w3 is in a JL-designed PowerWedge box, which means that the sub is taking advantage of its ideal specified airspace.
