Pros: worth the $$$, go get it. great amp and great sub woofer.
Cons: You will want to upgrade the surrounds. They look and feel cheap.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this system to those just starting out for that home theatre sound. You will be satisfied. It has good power and good/great sound.

I bought mine in 2000 for $380 after much research.
the amp is what you really pay for and is worth the $$. The speakers(except the sub-woofer) however are just thrown together so do not expect real quality sound. The sound is GOOD, maybe even great, but to appreciate the power of the amp you will have to up grade to better surround speakers(all of them minus the sub). I replaced the rears with better speaker to handle more power and clearer sound quality and now I got it. By far the 2 most important speakers that must sound clear are the sub woofer and the center speaker. I did replace the center with a better sounding speaker and it makes a BIG difference. I will upgrade the 2 front surrounds next. The sub woofer in my opinion sounds fine. It does the job real well. 100 watts of power gets the floor to quake and you DO feel it. No need to upgrade there, unless you want to pay $200.00 to $400.00 for more Bass, but how much do you really need? When I watch a basketball game, you can actually feel the ball hitting the floor, amazing. I have had it kind of loud for football games, and it is awesome. You can hear everything. EVERYTHING. A powered sub woofer is the only way to go.
