sparkospunky's Full Review: 6 Month Frontline Plus for Dogs 45 88lb
6 Month Frontline Plus is a product designed to protect your dogs from becoming infested with fleas, ticks and lice. Additionally, it also works to do away with those mites that can lead to mange in dogs. I've been using this version of Frontline ever since it hit the market, and because Sissy, Cakes and Lumpy all weigh 45 pounds or more, I use the version that's formulated for dogs weighing from 44 to 85 pounds.
6 Month Frontline Plus comes in a box which contains six treatments of the product. Each individual container looks like a small flask, and is filled with a green fluid that is made up of those ingredients which do away with almost any insect infestation that can occur in dogs. I simply detach one of the flasks along the perforated line, snip the top with a pair of scissors, and apply it as directed on the package.
Application is very easy too--simply expose a patch of skin between the shoulder blades of the dog and squeeze the product out of the flask and onto the skin. The instructions on the box warn against applying it directly to the dog's hair, so you need to make sure to part the hair and get the liquid applied directly to the skin.
The information on the box indicates that the product works, particularly in the case of fleas, by breaking the life cycle of the pests. Once the life cycle is broken, infestations are eliminated, and a regular application of 6 Month Frontline Plus is effective in preventing new infestations. I've found that applying the product on a monthly basis seems to keep my dogs free of these pests, so that's pretty much the regimen I've adopted and follow.
After applying 6 Month Frontline Plus the only thing that I've noticed is an oily looking spot at the point where I've applied the formula. The liquid itself is waterproof, so I guess that explains the oily patch, but it disappears after a few days and the coats of my dogs look completely normal.
There are obviously some powerful chemicals in this product, but my dogs have shown no side effects after having this product applied. What I have noticed is that each of my pets are totally free of ticks, fleas, lice and mites, and I think that's because 6 Month Frontline Plus performs as promised.
