Javelina's Full Review: 8 in1 Guinea Pig/Rabbit Vitasol 4oz.
I owned guinea pigs for many, many years - ever since I was a little girl up through graduate school (so well over 10 years)! Guinea pigs are like humans, they require sources of vitamin C in their diet. Pellets have some added vitamin C, but even fresh hay is a poor source, so I always wanted to give my guinea pigs the best nutrition possible. Not to mention, extra vitamin C is excreted (as opposed to being toxic). I used Vita-sol for my guinea pigs as long as I can remember.

Vita-Sol 8-in-1
I have never had a problem finding this product, at pet stores, Walmart, just about any store that sells pet products, and I don't think I have seen other brands of guinea pig vitamins. I believe this size runs around $4, but you can also fine it in larger sizes. You get a 4oz white plastic bottle with a top that pops up and you squeeze out the product, which is a watery consistency.
Ingredients
Water, Polysorbate 80, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Vitamin A Palmitate, Ascorbic Acid (source of Vitamin C), Riboflavin-5 - Phosphate, Sodium Benzoate (a preservative), Thiamine Hydrochloride, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, dl-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate (source of Vitamin E), and Cholecalciferol (source of Vitamin D3).
My Thoughts
This product is really easy to use. You simply press on the cap and it pops up, and you squeeze out the product. You are supposed to use "1/4 tsp per 4 oz of drinking water". Most guinea pig water bottles should be labeled, so I never had a problem figuring out how much to add to the water.
This supplement is yellow in color and so it is easy to see if it has been added to the water, should you forget. I can't say I have ever had a white or light-color guinea pig, but I never noticed any mess or staining on their fur (although guinea pigs notoriously have wet mouths!). The liquid consistency mixes really easily with water and it doesn't settle out or anything.
The pigs never seemed to mind this in their water, and I don't think they noticed, although it was always in it. The vitamins don't seem to have a strong odor to it, so my guess is that it doesn't have a strong flavor.
My guinea pigs always were healthy, and some of them lived quite a while. I gave them a well-rounded diet of pellets, fresh timothy and some alfalfa, and lots of fresh veggies, and always supplemented them with this vita-sol vitamin. People (including veterinarians) were often surprised how long my guinea pigs lived, and they were in great condition, with shiny coats and overall happy and healthy.
Overall
I don't have any complaints about this product, except that the larger size might be more convenient (8 oz). There is no reason not to supplement your guinea pig's diet with these vitamins!
