Wintertime in NJ means trimming and cleaning around the yard. Unfortunately, as I was trimming my rose bushes, I misplaced/lost my pruner that I've had over 10 years. It didn't have a brand name on it but it did work and last longer than I expected.

I needed a replacement ASAP so on my next trip to the local Home Depot I picked this pruner up for $10.97 plus tax. There weren't too many to choose from but I picked this model because it was longer than the others and the brand name FISKARS.

~ Fiskars Claim ~
"We believe that once you try our tools - when you feel them in your hands for the first time, make that first cut, or notice the subtle details - you'll agree they're better than anything else you've ever used. Enjoy!"
It states that the blades should be wiped after each use and oiled occasionally.
~ My use & opinion ~
I have used pruners for many, many years. Usually my husband trimmed larger branches and I did the low pruning of bushes and plants around my property. Therefore, I have to enjoy using it. This pruner has the straight handles which are covered in a black rubber product. This is good for the hands. But I find the straight handle not to be comfortable. Also, when opened up, the span is too wide for my hand causing me to use both hands sometimes. If I'm cutting something under a 1/4" it's fine but anything large is difficult since I need to use pressure when pruning. I feel shorter handles would have been easier to use. This handle measures 4 1/2" in length and the span when opened is 5". My hand is 6" so it's difficult to hold.
While this may have a Lifetime Warranty, I may have to purchase another pair with a shorter handle but in time this will becomes dull with excessive use even it it's properly maintained.
I do like the "Open Lock" feature which you slide this button and is easy to use. I probably would not have purchased this had I known the one blade is Teflon since I know cooking pans do not last long with this type of coating.
Tough & Durable? I may not keep it to test that claim.
I needed a pruner, this looked great in the store, but I may return it and purchase a different one regardless of the brand that fits better in my hand. This was in a package and did not see the need to test it out in the store.
