Pros: Nine dispensers, nice presentation, certificate of authenticity.
Cons: Overpriced, hard to find, not a limited edition product.
The Bottom Line: Unless you are a die hard Star Wars or Pez fanatic, this nine piece set is overpriced and a complete marketing mess.

| Freak369's Full Review: 9 Star Wars Limited Edition Pez |
If you are a fan of the Star Wars empire then you know that you can get thousands of different items with the name or logo on it. There are CD players, room accents, key chains and of course Lego sets and that is a very generic list of things that you can buy, trade for or bid on. I am a fan but not a fanatic; even so, I had to get this boxed set of Star Wars themed Pez dispensers. Just what I need, something else to collect dust and when it comes time to move, another thing to obsess over when packing. I already have all of the loose Star Wars Pez dispensers but wanted to get this completed set because of the packaging and 'limited edition' status. That turns out to be a big pile of steaming yak poop, they aren't numbered so they aren't a true "limited edition" collection.
Star Wars Nine Character Pez Dispenser Boxed Set
If you aren't familiar with Pez products, here is the crash course. They are plastic dispensers that are loaded with rectangular candies. Most of the time the characters head tips backwards and advances a piece of candy out of the top. There are some dispensers that do not have a character shape like the plain blue one that is usually found with the carded peppermint or wintermint candy. In the case of the Star Wars Pez, these are the same identical Pez dispensers that were sold carded and bagged; there are no visual differences to them, no change in scale or color and the flavors of candy that come packaged in the box are the usual common varieties like lemon, fruit punch and grape.
What Star Wars characters do you get in this boxed set? One each of the following: Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Yoda, the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, the Death Star, Boba Fett, General Grievous and Emperor Palpatine. These are not individually packaged in plastic sleeves like the common, shelf stocked dispensers. There is a nice inlay velvet backing that the stems of the dispensers are snapped into and even if you remove then and replace them, the dispensers stay securely in place on the display card. The box that the dispensers are packaged in is strong and sturdy but you will want to inspect the corners and bottom of it prior to buying it to make sure that it is still factory sealed and that the dispensers haven't been tampered with. On a side note, this set contains the old brown version of Chewbacca, not the newer orangish red one. Who is missing from the set? Leia, Luke, the Ewoks, Jango, Clone Troopers and Stormtroopers.
Why would someone pay upwards of fifty dollars for this? I will be honest, the only reason to ever invest in this is if you are a die hard Star Wars fan or you collect Pez. You can still find every single one of these dispensers at toy and candy stores selling for anywhere from $1.00 to $2.00 depending on the type of store it is. Yes the display box is nice and you do get twelve sleeves of candy with it but that is it. There are no other perks outside of the small certificate of authenticity that is tucked under the display stand. I really can't stress this enough, if you just want Pez dispensers to play with or use for doling out Pez candies, this is not the set for you. Stick with the individual dispensers and have some fun with them.
Needless to say, this is something that is going to increase in value over the years. If you are buying this with the intention of holding on to it and selling it later I do have to warn you that there are some fake products on the market that do mot have the certificate of authenticity packaged inside the boxes. There are clear round stickers on the bottom edges of the box; these can be peeled off carefully if you want to inspect the set to make sure there are no broken pieces and that the certificate is enclosed. Opening it might drop the value a little but in my honest opinion it's better to know exactly what you have so when you do decide to sell it you aren't going to be accused of ripping someone off or selling a knock off product.
The Bottom Line
These are fully functional Pez dispensers; the nine character set is missing some very important Star Wars figures and to me that is a real disappointment. I would suggest this set to anyone that is a Pez or Star Wars collector but shop around to get a good price. These are not as rare as sites and stores make them out to be. I got my band spanking new, mint in box set for $30.00 at my local comic book store but I have seen people trying to get over a hundred dollars for it. The average selling price for this set is in the $50.00 range by honestly, that is too much to pay for this collection. As much as I love Star Wars and Pez, asking over $30.00 for this set of nine characters is a complete joke.
As always, thanks for the visit
