Pros: Affordable, canned air. Works as claimed, reliable even after sitting with no use.
Cons: Why am I paying for air? Needed: powerful, battery operated device - no chemical use.
The Bottom Line: Pick up a can of this and extend the life of your PC and its components. It works well and is much cheaper than a new computer!!!

Most of us are not THAT guy/gal, the person that has formal PC training with certifications to prove the information was retained. THAT guy/gal is the one family and friends call when they have PC issues because they know (s)he will give advice/make repairs/clean/install new hardware, all for free. On behalf of THAT person, please take responsibility for at least cleaning your PC, if only with this canned air from Kensington.
Reasons You Need This!!
Unless you live in a bubble where there is no dust or ANY foreign matter that may find its way into your PC, there is undoubtedly going to come a time that your computer needs to be purged of dust and other things that would lead to diminished performance. If you have pets, you need to clean much more frequently as Fluffys hair poses great risk to the longevity of the device you may take for granted.
Worse, things get hot in there and that leads to a potential for a fire. While this is not likely, it most certainly has happened, and this is enough reason to pick up some canned air.
What You Get
Ten fluid ounces of air. Fluid ounces? Air? It is 100% Difluoroethane, a refrigerant, meaning that it changes from liquid to a gas. The gaseous state that it forms into upon proper release from the container is the air that propels unwanted debris away from your most critical computer parts. They never claimed it to be oxygen and it will suffocate the person trying to use it to breathe.
It comes with a nozzle that resembles a black coffee stirrer, taped to the side, similar to the red deals you get and lose with every can of WD-40. You will not lose this one as you just leave it in place in the nozzle as there is no need to remove it. It also has directions for use, precautions and first-aid advice printed right there on the can in English, Francais and Espanol.
The Biggest Things to Avoid
Certainly do not huff it, but for those of us with common sense, also do not shake it and always hold it upright. Move the PC instead of tilting the can, so that the nozzle is always parallel to the floor, as is the base of the can that is always underneath the nozzle.
The problem with using it in another manner is liquid, freezing liquid, released in this event, almost assuredly. This is not the goal at all. In fact, the resulting fluid, able to cause frostbite on the skin, could ruin components subjected to this harmful spray.
Do not shake it before or while in use for the same reason. Short bursts is the best way to do it. Also, unplug your PC from its outlet, ensure there is no device sending electricity attached to the computer anywhere BEFORE cleaning commences.
My Usage
I Spray out my case every 4-6 months. We do not have pets, indoor smokers or a very dusty climate. If we did, I would crack the case at least monthly in the event of either of the three. Once the case is open, I wipe the inside of the case with a moist cloth. The cloth is not wet at all, but a dash of water in the middle and I fold it, squeeze it and rub on it until the moisture is evenly distributed.
The cloth is not used on ANY part of the motherboard or anything other than metal and plastic without touching any type of exposed electrical board. Get those CPU, intake, outtake fans, but be gentle so that you do not crack off a blade.
After I have cleaned all that dust and ensure that it is completely dry, leaving the case open, I then use the canned air to get up in the power supply, the motherboard, and all other things the rag was not useful in cleaning as well as further clean the fans.
I do it from top to bottom so that the debris the air ferrets out lands in a spot I can go back to my cloth and scoop it up. This entire process takes minutes, not hours and can prevent malfunctions or worse.
Why Kensington Duster II for Cleaning?
It is reasonably priced, dependent on where you shop for a can. I pay around 5 or 6 bucks a can (10 oz.). The brand is just my choice and I do not see that it out performs most other options available. I would not get the cheapest unless I researched it, based on the more harmful fumes it may emit and a malfunction could cause far greater damage than the dollar or two difference between them.
Kensington proves to be a value to me in my pursuit to keep my PC from looking like the inside of a used vacuum cleaner bag that I have seen from people that are otherwise VERY tidy. It works well when used as recommended and helps get to those pieces not to be touched or not accessible. Remember, if you do not get help from Kensington, get help somewhere.
