I'm disappointed with my purchase.
I bought this for $49.99 plus tax several months ago to use with my iPhone 3G, and my iTouch 1G. The first few months it worked like a charm. I would use it to get me through the day when I knew my iPhone would run out of juice. Typically I'd wait till it got down to about 20% and then bring this mini-battery pack out to charge it up. I'd say it gave me 60% battery power on the iPhone 3G battery meter.
Fast forward a few months. iPhone now has better firmware, and battery life is much better than before. I hardly use my Kensington Mini Battery Pack and keep it in my laptop bag in case of emergencies. I charge it up like I usually do with the convenient zip-linq type usb to mini-usb cable overnight. I bring it with me out on an extended day-long outdoor trip thinking with my extensive use of some of my iPhone apps that I'd need a boost. When the time came, I plugged it in and the phone started charging. I checked in approximately half and hour later and I found that the Kensington was completely dissipated and only charged my iphone 20-25%! I had to turn off my phone the rest of the day only to power it up in case of emergency.
Thinking maybe it was a fluke, I went home and charged up the unit again. Only to do another test run and find that I got similarly poor results. It almost seemed not worth carrying around. So I performed a quick google search to see if anybody else was having similar problems --- and LOTS of people reported the same / similar earlier than usual failure. USEFUL FOR: Charging from USB to your iPhone 3G, iPod, iTouch. Even with the battery problems I had I could count on it being able to convert my USB to mini-USB to charge my iPhone 3G. No need to wait for the battery to charge up from USB, can charge both at the same time if there is enough current coming out of the USB port. (Netbook users beware - there isn't on many to charge both at the same time).
STYLE: Really slick looking and appears to be well made. High quality aluminum enclosure and bright LEDs to indicate level of battery charge (only when plugged in).
FUNCTION:Overall FAIL. I would say that I've charged it and used it to charge my iPhone maybe a dozen times at most, now I have almost no capacity left on the battery.
