When searching for a "lift" for my monitor, I needed something not too tall, that wouldn't rob me of valuable desktop realestate. When I saw the Allsop Metal Art Jr, I knew I'd found just the right thing!
This product raises your monitor (or whatever else you choose to put on it, about 4 inches off the desk surface. The frame is sturdy and solid enough to hold even a CRT monitor. But I have a flatscreen monitor so that wasn't even a concern.
The U-shaped legs on this product allow for plenty of room to slide things underneath the monitor so you don't have to sacrifice space to have this on the desk. Because the legs wrap from the back, the entire front of the stand is open to slip thing under like paper, stapler, tape dispenser, etc. I actually have an inbox underneat the monitor.
The thickeness of the frame is about a 1/2 inch, leaving about 3-1/2 clearance underneath for your goodies. The surface area on top is a gunmetal gray and measures about 14 x 9 inches. It's plenty large enough to hold any standard computer monitor, with room to set a few other things up there if you have a flatscreen monitor. My tape dispenser and stapler sit by the monitor, off my desk.
All in all, this is a tidy solution to raising your monitor a bit without sacrificing desk space. Because of the nice way this stand is designed, you actually gain space just by using it.
After using it at work and being so satisfied with it, I bought one for home. However, when I got a new desk, with an upper shelf, I found that my monitor no longer fit on the stand under the shelf. So I found another use for this little jewel. Now my router and DSL modem sit under the stand with my scanner on top! Very handy.
Of course, the primary factor for selecting a monitor stand is usually based on the height you need and this one is 4 inches. Since that was what I wanted, this is perfect for me. I love the space-saving design and the overall quality feel of the product. I never worry that my monitor will fall or tip while sitting on this stand. It is sturdy, well-made, and attractive.
