| skylam's Full Review: ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 128 Pro, (32 MB) AGP Video Card |
Despite of the fact that I receive this graphic card as a gift from a friend, I will never buy an ATI product because of an experience I have with their cards before.
Every time I hear ATI graphic card, the first thing that comes into my mind is the incompatibility of the card with games and programs. Thus, my first intention of the card applies to the ATI All-in-Wonder 128 as well.
I got my ATI card in a wrapped and sealed box. And the following is what I did right away:
1. I unwrapped the Gift box bundled with the card
2. I read the manual with covers some essential information on how to install the card.
3. I plugged the card into my system
4. I installed the necessary driver and software that comes with the graphic card
5. Everything goes well up this point!
I was very happy with my new graphic card after I have spent almost an hour fine-tuning the applications that come with it.
Problem arises when I try to run some games.
The following games I found unplayable with ATI All-in-Wonder 128. Although they are not mentioned on ATI’s website.
Rouge Spear
Shogun
I have emailed and phoned their technical support center, but received no reply.
If you are not a hardcore gamer… this card is for you. However, if you play a lot of games… then this card is definitely not your choice!
The following is a breakdown of the card (in my opinion):
Performance: The card is much faster than my ATI Rage Pro. It runs even better when set to 32-bit color mode. I have not compared this card to other graphic cards yet
Installation: Installation is straightforward. The manual includes almost everything you need to know in order to install the card.
Application: All the programs included with the card are easy to setup and use.
Manual: Very helpful for beginner. Lack of information for advanced user.
Compatibility: Very BAD compatibility with a lot of games and programs!
Technical Support: The WORST Technical support service I seen. No reply from all the questions I have sent to them about incompatibility.
I recommend this card to anyone who is NOT a gamer. For gamers, please refer to GeForce or Voodoo instead.
Email me at skylam@home.com if you need more information or advice about the card.
