I bought this item because it was one of the only answering machines that gives one the option of having an outgoing message only, without taking incoming messages.I installed it on my small office phone system and it wouldn't work. I later discovered that it isn't compatible with digital phone lines.I contacted AT&T technical support by email, waited 2 days only to be referred to an 800 number which was always busy. They wouldn't even take the time to answer my questions by email. I was finally able to work around the incompatibility problem with some excellent help from my local phone company support person who thought up a way to circumvent the problem. Sound quality is poor but the lack of support is worse.
