Pros: Unique scent; Good cleaning ability
Cons: High price
Axe is a personal product company made for men- one of the few companies of its kind that specialize in deodorants, shampoos, and other products formulated to appeal to males rather than females. I have used several Axe products and the area in which I am most familiar with Axe is its body washes. One I have tried and liked is Axe Dark Temptation.
Body Wash Facts and Figures:
Axe Dark Temptation shower gel is a tan- colored, see- through gel that is intended as a body wash and nothing more (it doesn’t double as a shampoo). The gel is thick and is dispensed by squeezing it from the plastic bottle, which is available in 8.5 oz., 12 oz., or bonus 18 oz. sizes.
Axe Dark Temptation has an unusual smell for a body gel, combining scents of chocolate, caramel, wood, and some muskiness in the background. The gel produces only a moderate amount of lather and rinses off easily.
Axe Dark Temptation is made using water, sodium laureth sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, fragrance, cocamide MEA, PPG-9, sodium chloride, citric acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, methylchoroisothiazolinone, caramel, and methylisothizolinone.
Axe Dark Temptation shower gel is an unusual body wash from the people who have helped write the book on men’s grooming products. Axe, along with Old Spice, Gillette, and a few others, control a large part of the men’s grooming product market and they rank among a small number of companies that cater specifically to men’s bathroom grooming needs.
I have used several different Axe body wash products, but Axe Dark Temptation shower gel is definitely among the more unusual. Men’s body washes usually stick with the scent of aftershave or cologne as their primary fragrance, but Axe Dark Temptation features a scent that is chocolate- like more than anything, with caramel and other scents. This is the only body wash I have ever used with this type of scent and it ranks as the product’s most unique quality.
As for its other abilities, Axe Dark Temptation shower gel does provide a good feeling of clean and it works just as well as any other Axe product in this category. It has no problem eliminating the oils and sweat and leaves the skin feeling refreshed. I noticed, however, that it doesn’t moisturize the skin the way other men’s body gels sometimes do. It is intended as a cleaning agent with a fancy scent, and that is exactly what it is; nothing more, nothing less.
Axe Dark Temptation is a little lighter on the lather than other men’s body wash. Some may prefer the extreme lather that certain body washes produce, but the lighter level is fine by me. One quality that many will not appreciate, though, is the price of Axe Dark Temptation shower gel. Like with other Axe products, this one is priced higher than other brands in its product category and this could be enough to discourage some from buying.
Overall, Axe Dark Temptation shower gel is a good product from Axe with an alluring scent that will drive chocoholics wild. The verdict is still out on whether or not this product’s abilities justify its high price tag, but it is certainly an interesting product and it makes a good choice for those who want a break from the usual aftershave- scented men’s shower gel.
