Have you been hurt by a church leader? Do some church leaders sometimes make it HARDER to serve God, instead of EASIER? This book will help you.
Gene Edwards is a master storyteller. A storyteller with a purpose. In this case, Edwards, tells the story of three kings -- all related by blood: King Saul, King David, and Absalom. Each of these men were leaders in the Bible -- the first two by God's choice, the third by man's choice. But even the King by God's choice (Saul) ended up hurting people. Through a wonderfully compelling story, we find out how each man responds to God's calling, how each one walks out his own opportunity in leadership, and also how each one responds to other authority (whether hurtful or gentle).
Through observing these men close up, in personal dialog, we are able to see how we can be healed and protected from hurts that God never intended in His Body (the Church).
The book is short (101 pages), and the chapters are short and easy to read. You could finish it is a day, but the impact can last a lifetime.
I highly recommend this book, and these others by Gene Edwards:
"The Divine Romance" -SEE MY REVIEW IN EPINIONS. The love story depicts God's plan to have a people that love Him as much as He loves them.
"The Early Church" - an excellent novel which accurately depicts what daily life in the early church might have been like, starting at Pentecost up to Antioch.
"Preventing a Church Split" -- most Christians have been through a church split of one kind or another. This book will help you if you have been through one, are going through one, or never want to go through one.
"Letters to a Devastated Christian"
"The Inward Journey"
"Our Mission"
