The Ab Gymnic Electronic Gymnastic Device (Belt) is similar to The Contour System I reviewed. I am not comparing them except to say that the latter goes for $200 and the Ab Gymnic sells for less than $10.00. I paid $2.00 for it! I guess that says it all.

The box has this guy on it with abs of steel - no kidding. There is a picture so you'll see I am not kidding. The woman with breast implants has a thong on. It is really disheartening when I see a product like this and people buy it thinking they can look like this not only with this gadget but without eating really strictly and spending lots of time in a gym.

Ok off my soap box but one more thing - you cannot spot reduce and essentially that is what Ab Gymnic is having us do.

We are told that Ab Gymnic replaces boring sit ups and exercise (but it has 6 pre-programmed exercise routines for different level users). In only 10 minutes a day you can replace crunches just by putting on this gadget and letting the pulsing device do the rest.

What I got:

The unit which consists of a neoprene center piece, a long belt - 26 inches, a short belt - 12 inches for arms and legs, 2 batteries (It only uses one so you get an extra one. The batteries are those round batteries.) and gel.

The belt has a small device with an on/hi button, off/low button, a left LED and right LED button, and a mode button. This is where the battery goes.

How it works:

I really started laughing when I saw what the 6 pre-programmed workouts were. They are given names for example, if I want to do a karate chop, I have the red LED light on, the right one off and I feel very fast pulses coming at 5 a second. If I want to feel a full exercise routine with slow and fast elements I could choose Crunch Craze. Iron Man would give me pro exercise routines, mixed mode, with many fast elements. I also have Fat Blaster, Work Out, and Tap Massage.

The guide shows the front and back of a diagram of a person with letters. The letters correspond to a list. So if I want to improve my breast contours I should put the belt where the B is - just above my chest. Q exercises and defines my calves. Sigh...

Gel has to be put on in order for this to work.

There is one sentence in the guide that states, "In conjunction with your workout routing, AB Gymnic helps to increase muscle density...." In other words workout! In addition the words "healthy diet" are in this pamphlet if you read it closely enough.

My results:

I am on the computer for several hours a day and work out about 5 days a week at a gym. Using this gadget for 30 minutes a day was no big deal. You can use it anywhere.

I felt pulses from the belt onto my skin, which are supposed to contract muscles. In fact the pulses might but that isn't to say that this is going to - what? Burn fat? Produce a 6-pack?
 
I never had any negative effects from this gadget but there are all sorts of warning so you should check with your doctor before using. The warnings are specifically for people with diabetes, heart problems and people who are pregnant.

Jo's Final Thoughts:

The person who made this (in China) should be ashamed of themselves. This is false advertising and a rip off even if you only pay $2.00.
