| scottfsmith's Full Review: Abed Latex Mattress |
We have two abed latex mattresses bought in 2002: a Manchester, and the model one rung up in price from the manchester, forget the name now; neither are listed on their website anymore. The Manchester is a great mattress, just the right firmness for several people that have tried it, and a very comfortable sleep. The other model has a soft top layer added, and I don't like that at all because you sink into it and sleep too hot. For six months after getting the mattress I would be sweating every night. Eventually I got used to that aspect but it is not the greatest in that regard. In other respects it is also a very good mattress. Both mattresses are still looking nice after almost three years of use, so they are at least started on a good track to durability.
The company itself has a bit too much sales pressure. The cheaper models are in fact the best ones from our experience, but they try to sell you the fancy models that will double or triple your price and give you a worse nights sleep to boot! The salespeople we dealt with were very good however. (Too good - talking you into what you don't need.)
Anyway I would give them an OK overall and would recommend the Manchester or whatever they replaced it with (sounds a lot like the Amsterdam they sell now) highly as a product.
