Caution On Ordering Custom Cushions (Reply to this comment)
by aliceblt
In August of 2006, I ordered chair cushions from FoamOrder.com. The salesman took my Visa card number and used it without my authorization. Only part of the order was satisfactory but I was charged for the whole thing. I had to change my credit card number and initiate a fraud investigation. Also, they ruined several yards of my own, very expensive, fabric in the process.

Now that a year has past since you posted your comments on the Carpenter foam mattress set, what are you opinion(s) now? Have you witnessed any degradation in the quality of the mattress set? Any info that you can provide will be appreciated.

Hey, I tried foam4home.com and they were really great. This is the first time I used a memory foam mattress and it is really comfortable. I think they use ER Carpenter Foam. The shipping is free. Give them a try, they might be worth your while.

Could you be more specific? Why don't you trust them?

You've written only one review, which could just as easily be read as a plug for Abed. In it you fail to give any mention of having tried a foamorder.com product. Also, if you had such a poor memorable experience, then why haven't you written a review of your foamorder.com experience?

I haven't had the opportunity to try any Abed.com products yet, so I can't comment on them. But I live within a couple miles of Foamorder.com and have paid them a visit (yesterday actually) as part of my ongoing research and found them to be very courteous and knowledgeable (I tested their knowledge a bit using what I've found in my research). The man I spoke to did not hesitate to say if something was outside of his knowledge, which I find more trustworthy than someone trying to have all the answers or brushing a question aside. The showroom is connected to their workshop and I found all the materials to be of good quality. Everything is out and right there for inspection, and all the different grades of foam and latex are available to examine.

No offense intended, but I find a pair of postings, with different verbiage for nearly identical comments, coming from someone with a less than thorough review of a competitors product, who states that they have tried this product yet make no mention of it elsewhere, nor give any reasons or examples for not trusting them .... well I find that suspicious.

Another question: I just noticed that your Abed.com review and this comment were made on the same day, and that in your Abed review you say that you've had that mattress for 2 years. At what point did you try Foamorder.com? I am not certain, but I don't think that they've been around for 2 years. Why only get around to writing your review and comments now, 2 years later?

Now if you would post a review of your experience with Foamorder.com or at least give specific examples of why you don't trust them, that is something I would be very interested in reading.

Thanks,
Gabe

I can't believe you would let someone plug their own website in a review! I don't trust foamorder.

Well, I ordered a full size memory foam mattress from abed.com.. its has NOT been a good experience at all! I ordered on Feb. 2nd. Called on Feb 4th since I never heard a word, they told me the order was submitted and will be shipped soon.. would have been nice to get an email.. so.. I wait.. and wait.. and wait some more.. finally, I am into the 4th week and still no bed.. so I call up and see whats going on. They tell me it shipped on the 11th and I should have it. So I get the tracking/phone # for Yellow Freight.. their shipper.. and find out its been in my town since the 17th! Today is the 28th! So I call the shipper and ask why I don't have my bed. They tell me the driver tried several times to call me and tried to deliver, but my Apartment # wasnt on the invoice (But it WAS on the shipping label on BOTH boxes!!). She then reads off my phone # and its WRONG! Next she reads off my work # which is correct, but did anyone attempt to call me? NO! So, here it is on the 27th and they tell me it will be delivered Fri. the 28th (today) but I owe the shipper $28 for "residential delivery" even though its supposed to be FREE Delivery. I told the lady and Yellow Freight that was a mistake and she said she would take care of it.. so.. I take off work today to make sure to get my bed... coming up on 3pm, still no bed so I call again.. I am told it will be here within the hour.. 2 more hours pass and the truck FINALLY shows up. He tells me the mattress box is damaged before he even opens the truck.. Damaged is an understatement! The box was SHREDDED and taped back together.. AND he would NOT give me the bed till I paid him $28 for Delivery!!! 30Mins on hold with Abed.com to find out whats going on and finally get the driver and the customer support rep to talk on the phone and straighten out the billing.. while thats going on I check out the mattress, and for some very lucky reason, only the cardboard box was shredded, the plastic covering the mattress was all still intact, no tears.. whew.. So, here it is, 5:40pm my time and I just got the bed assembled.. I never felt a memory foam mattress, it takes a little getting used to I can see.. but it is comfortable and seems to really support my back, where as my old (10 year old) mattress before was sagging severely in the center and I was having a lot of back pains.. so hopefully it will help me out in the long run.. but what a fiasco.. $1800 for a full size bed w/ memory foam pillow also.. I will be calling them on Monday to see about getting a discount because of all the headaches.. if not, I have already found cheaper places online and they WILL get this bed back within their 90 day period if I dont get some money refunded for what turned out to be my WORST online buying experience to date.. and I order at least 1 thing a week online for the last 5 years.. That says something about doing business with abed.com..

Hello and Welcome! (Reply to this comment)

You're off to a great start here with this review. You have included some wonderful information that will be helpful to consumers.

My husband and I have the Isotonic Memory Foam Sleep System from the Carpenter Company. Their version is similar to Tempur-Pedic, but improved, so they say. (I've never tried the Tempur-Pedic so I can't compare.) We absolutely love it! The company was great to work with, and we've encountered no problems. I never will go back to an innerspring mattress again. I really enjoy the total lack of motion transfer. My husband can get in and out of bed and not wake me up.

Thanks again for taking the time to write this review. Welcome to Epinions, and if you have questions or need help with anything, be sure and let me know.

Good luck, and enjoy the site!
