| sportsweek's Full Review: Abita Purple Haze |
I should write this epinion incognito because this is not necessarily what I'd call a "manly" beer but I still like it a lot. Abita Purple Haze is one of a few beers out there that I know of that is fermented with raspberries to give it a very unique raspberry taste. To the beer purist this may sound repulsive and I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about even trying this beer but the results really surprised me.
There are a few local restaurants and pubs in the area that my wife and I like to visit and frequently this is what we drink. She loves it and she's not really a beer drinker (There's a little tip there for you single guys out there looking for a way to get your date to loosen up a little). If there's such a thing as a date movie, this is certainly a date beer. The great thing about this is it's not nearly as painful as having to sit through something like "Message in a Bottle" or a few other cheesy flicks I've been forced to endure.
On the contrary don't read this epinion and run out to buy a case for your buddies on poker night. This beer is perfect for the right place and the right time, I must admit I have had a few even when no one else was around. It just takes tasting it one time and you'll know what I mean, I think you'll like it regardless of whether or not you're a beer lover. Once you have had it you will have it again and you'll know just the time to enjoy.
I must add that of the 4 or 5 raspberry beers that I am aware of this is my second favorite, Blackdog Brewing also has a raspberry beer that is even better. Unfortunately it is not currently listed on epinions, I plan on suggesting it in a few days but also certainly worth checking out.
