I personally don't care for Absolut. The basic non favored version is just not a good tasting vodka in my opinion. I try to avoid Absolut for the most part because I feel that there are several other vodkas in the ~$20 range that are much better.
Absolut Vanilia seems to be the main exception. I really enjoy this vodka. It was introduced to the US in 2003 and has been a standard in my liquor cabinet ever since.
The vanilla flavoring is very distinct. Having tried vanilla vodkas from other brands in the same price range I have to say that this is my favorite. That is a little strange considering I don't really care for Absolut vodka in general.
The bottle is stylish. The frosted glass has a distinct look that invites the user to take a sip. A sip turns into a shot and the bottle quickly becomes empty. It also makes a great mixer. While vodka & cola may sound a little odd it has become one of my favorites thanks largely to flavored vodkas such as this. Vanilla vodka + coke should become as classic as the rum & coke in my opinion.
Overall I'd rate this one as a strong buy, but I would encourage people to explore other brands as well. Their vanilla flavored vodka may just be the best thing Absolut has going for themselves.
