Absolut -- the famous Swedish vodka with the medicine-bottle design -- may have earned its renown through clever marketing, but it really is good vodka. There are other, slightly less expensive mid-priced brands that I like just fine -- Skyy and Stoli are two -- but Absolut is the standard I measure them by. It has a pleasant but not-too-strong vodka flavor, nice strong alcohol content and holds its own in mixed drinks. Perfect.
There are higher-priced vodkas out there, and I'm sure they're excellent, but there's no way I can afford to spend $50 on a bottle of vodka! Who can? Absolut is really the finest vodka I've found at a realistic price.
