Absolut is a Swedish vodka company that has a relatively large following here in the United States. Every liquor store in America has a nice selection of flavors from Absolut. As a result it is readily available and it tends to show up quite often.
Absolut is a wheat grain vodka which is typical of the Scandanavian vodkas. These vodkas tend to be more smooth and better flavored than the typical potato based Russian vodkas.
I personally don't care for Absolut. The basic non favored version is just not a good tasting vodka in my opinion. I try to avoid Absolut for the most part because I feel that there are several other vodkas in the ~$20 range that are much better.
If Absolut has a redeeming quality it is in their flavors. My personal favorite is the "Vanilia" which is their vanilla flavored vodka. It was introduced to the US in 2003 and has been a standard in my liquor cabinet ever since.
Absolut is a decent Vodka at a decent price, however I have to say that there are better options out there for the consumer. I still highly recommend the vanilla flavored vodka, but the basic vodka is just not a good choice in my opinion.
